Dr. Whipple is known in his industry as a "Giant Worm", which in the world of cardiovascular surgeons holds a lot of weight. He gained the recognition as a Giant Worm when he completed his 650th artery cleanse in a year. He expertly worms his way through the arteries using his special microscopic camera like all heart surgeons do, except he can do it faster than anyone else. He gets less done now because he goes to give talks to universities and other surgeons as a sort of celebrity on the medical circuit. It is known as a type of "Garden Leave" where the hospital can't fire him because it admits a guilt or at least lays the blame at the door, because out of 650 of the artery cleanses 175 patients died. Rumour has it his speed was to blame, others say it was his desire to use a larger camera for a panoramic view.
