Jade never used to need contact lenses, but when she learned about her crush's desire to help people she decided to drop a couple bits of sand in her eyes each day until her eyes were damaged and she was struggling to see. Then she started with the eye patches until eventually she needed the contact lenses to make up the damage she'd done to her eyes.
It worked though, the eye patches caught her eye. They've now been together 5 years, and Jade's vision still hasn't fully healed. It's gone from 2020 to Dirty Thirty. The future is unclear as to whether they'll be together forever, but now everything is unclear to Jade.
